When visiting the Hemel and Aarde valley between Hermanus and Caledon, Hermanuspietersfontein should be your first stop.

I recently made a stop there for a quick tasting and was pleasantly surprised by the quality wines. A few of my favourites you have to try is the Kaalvoetmeisie, a light easy drinking white for those sunny days on the porch. Another is the Kleinboet, which is a Bordeaux style blend that will pair well with a traditional cape malay curry. And last but not least is the Arnoldus, a more full bodied Bordeaux style blend, definitely one who will better with age.

If you are planning to do a tasting there add a small tapas platter and don’t miss the market on Saturday mornings.
